Firstly, because the founder and managing director is from Gascony, in southwest France, where the art and tradition of bullfighting are deeply rooted in ancestral culture.
Secondly, because Porta Gayola refers to a specific « Suerte », the ritual by which the bullfighter awaits the bull’s entry into the arena, kneeling alone before the gate of the bull pen at the very beginning of a bullfight. It’s an act of unimaginable courage, as the bull is then at the height of its powers and capable of killing the bullfighter who stands before him.
Finally, because facing death head-on is the hallmark of the Apostle Peter’s courage in the Bible, as it is written in the Gospel (Matthew 16:13-20): “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the power of Death shall not prevail against you »
